A Never-Ending Bedtime Adventure

There’s nothing like cuddling up in bed with an entrancing fairy tale in the middle of the summer, and once again, Walter Moers transports me to such an enchanting story that can any reader can ingest pleasurably to get through the blissful nights. Of all of the books I’ve read this summer, I haven’t been as tightly wound to a delicious and captivating plotline as much as the one in The Alchemaster’s Apprentice. Unlike Bluebear or Rumo, the story is stripped of lengthy, and often unnecessary descriptions of setting, which Moers traditionally weaves into the story to describe a journey. Although the novel is not in first person, the novel was so comforting that I felt like there was an available seat within Echo’s head to grab onto his thoughts. The story follows a crat (a Zamonian version of a cat) named Echo who wanders the streets of the ill and distressed town of Malaisea. Faced with the risk of starvation, Ghoolion, the sole leader and head Alchemaster offers Echo a deal. Echo benefits from a culinary journey through a Willy Wonka-esque buffet of gourmet food and an opportunity to learn the tricks and secrets of the Alchemaster’s trade. In return, Echo’s throat is slit at the end of the month in order to extract his fat and benefit Ghoolion’s sinister plan for complete domination over Malaisea. After Echo signs the contract and spends more time with the Alchemaster, he makes friends with several of the critters, such as the mature and guardian-like owl Theodore T. Theodore, who shows him the essence of love and eternal happiness with a female crat. Echo realizes how little he knows about the outside world and decides that he’d rather remain alive in order to chase after the possibility of happiness. In order to get past the intellectual mind of Ghoolian and escape, Echo taps into the Alchemaster’s hidden emotions and his internal conflicts, such as his affection for his deceased lover from Ingotville. Echo summon’s his  new friend Izanuela the Uggly to portray Ghoolian’s wife and fiddle with his emotions. After gradually growing further apart in companionship, the two emerge into an inconspicuous all-out war of lethal, yet supposedly “thilling and fun” traps triggered by drugs and potions. This nonchalant battle between two superficial companions transforms the novel into a story with psychedelic trips that are reminiscent of Alice In Wonderland. These dream-like states as leathermice or demonic bees are absolutely vivid and have parallels with the physical state of Echo as he gains weight to satisfy the Alchemaster’s contract.  Echo’s final day grew from the facade of a business casual crat and his master to a completely stripped-down and revealing fight between the two forces. I was completely captivated by their growing tension and the ending was a struggle not only for Echo, but the reader as well to digest so quickly. After reading all of the novels in the Zamonia series, the Alchemaster’s Apprentice radiates with all of the incredible and unique writing skills of Walter Moers wrapped up in this “short” bedtime adventure. Let this be the dessert at the end of the day to indulge with every bite.

Relax

(February 16th, 2010)

Dear Planet Earth,

The far-away state of relaxation is one that is strived for by many.
In such a world where trecherous grey clouds haunt the sky like ghosts for hours
Where the dirty, mossy color of snow is spilt across the sidewalks and streets, pushed around by smog-expelling SUV’s and trucks.
Where nature just doesn’t make things turn out the way you want them to. When piles of mess push you back as you attempt to cross the sidewalk.
What’s the point of avoiding the outdoors? Since when has nature ever been a problem in our lives. The wild rabbits, deer, and other creatures deal with its severity, from strong winds to tempermental downpours of rain, why have humans just grown to go against it? We supply ourselves with soft, smooth, comforting homes to flee from the power of nature. We turn large ceder trees into chairs and tables to adjust to our so called “human-ness”. We are happy… but are we really?
I mean, inside such buildings the same sources of threat from outdoors  flow indirectly into mental and physical pain of being indoors.
Lack of sunlight, headaches and nausea from overuse of computers, iPods, and televisions. There is no safe place, it seems.
Stuck inside a power-ridden house after a thunderstorm crashes through the air. Trapped inside a hidden jail. Where is a safe place now?
Where can I go for relaxation?
Beach- in our minds we see the pleasently structured sand, the endless waves, and eternal sunlight. Heading towards the nearest beach is a trash-contaminated nightmare. The grinding of sand against your tired feet. After the water, any part of the beach sticks with you as you depart. Real and ideal collide, forming a cluster of mixed messages.
So where is relaxation exactly? Over there? Over here? Well, it could be anywhere if you set your mind to it.

Silence

(January 28th, 2010)

Dear Planet Earth,

I can not believe the silence around me. It’s the first day of tutoring for me for second semester and I am so not used to it being so… empty! I was told by the head in charge of this period that the last period of the day is always unpredictable: some days a lot of people need help while for other days barely anyone drops in. I’m sitting at the table… in complete solitude… waiting for someone out of the blue to drop it. The teachers are whispering at their tables, afraid to break the awkward silence. Such a deadening silence. I hope that tomorrow offers a more optimistic chance to get to help someone with schoolwork.

Okay, oh my gosh, I am so being left in the dust

So I just *had* to write this post. Everyone else is, why not me?!

I guess I’ll start with my friendship with da boss, Clonez. SOOOO it started way back when when that uber cool CPIP item was to come out on Club Penguin. A worker on my (at the time) Club Penguin site lied that the item was going to be a pink and purple party hat. (you may have seen the picture on numerous WordPress blogs, yessir, I made that edit.) And so everyone was like OHMAHGAWD! PINK ADN PURPLE BETA HAT ZOMGZZZ!!1!!1! And then when the rumor came untrue, Clonez posted about it. [linky poo] And if you read the comments on there… well I was pretty PO’d at him. But for some reason, I wanted to be friends with him still. Well that is exactly what happened. He’s by far the best interwebzz friend I’ve made. He’s also the most personal. We communicate through lots of real-world methods. He’s pretty awesome, but of course you all know that! ;P We stay up latee on weekends (and heck, week nights too. Although I am forced to sneak on. Hehe.)

Okay, so you’ve never heard of me? Pish posh, you have now. I’ve been administrator on this site since like early January or late December or something rather. I don’t exactly do much on here, but oh well! I mainly just comment on Clonez’s posts. (Oh my gosh I am getting so tired of calling you Clonez, mister.) I have about a bajillion chat clients (MSN, AIM, Skype, ooVoo, blah blah blah) but since I am evil, and two of which are for real-world only friends, I’m going to give you my MSN and AIM addresses. MSN: connor.dude@live.com and AIM: connorr134. That is if you even want to contact me. Hah.

I guess maybe a little info about moi? Hm. Well for a start, I’m fourteen and in the 8th grade. I live in North Carolina. I was born, however, in Arizona and I lived overseas for a year. wahoo! In school, science and English are my best classes. Math is poop. No likey math because math teacher gives too darn much homework. Even though I live in the south, I do not have a southern accent, and I hope to lordeh that I don’t ever develop one. I love making things in Photoshop and I also love swapping YouTube videos with mah bud, Clonez. I also like to write like I actually have a personality rather than like a robot with perfect, grammatically correct and fantastically structured sentences and all that crap. That is what school is for. Um. I think that’s just about it? Well if you want to learn more or even care to meet meh, you can chat. I like meeting new peeps. ❤

I guess I’ll see ya round! (or most likely not since I don’t write posts here, but I do on my non-CP site. [; )

WE ARE SKYDAYS147.COM

Hello everyone! This is Clonez, admin. of skydays147 .com. I am proud to announce that we have changed the name of this website: the thing that I was hoping for ever since I started this blog about one and a half years ago.  It is now short, simple, and sweet, and most importantly it is easy to access.

Why Skydays147, you may ask? Well, Skydays147 has been my internet name for such a long time. Almost all of my usernames for logins include that nickname and I have used it for over five years; ever since I first signed up for America Online (which is almost extinct but only a couple of people use it still). I wanted something unknown to people and private. I wanted something that was completely random and could not be decoded and skydays147 was the first thing that popped into my head.

Also, our worker Dublanous1 is setting up an email system for a couple of reasons. One is because we want you guys to send us emails if you have any questions or comments that are too personal or private that you have about any of the topics that we are posted about. It could be related to anything. Two is so that you can subscribe to new posts when one is published on this website. You can ask to be added to the email list and an email will be sent automatically once it is published so that you will be notified and can read the post. I hope you guys sign up for that! It is located at the bottom of the page; there is a button that you can press that says Subscribe to The Clonez Enquirer by Email. I just want to say that I am glad that everyone enjoys reading from this website and if it wasn’t for you, this blog would not have been so motivated to keep on writing. To see the emails, click on the page “Ask/Contact” at the top. AND BE SURE TO ANSWER THE POLL AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS POST!!

For those of you that are here for the Club Penguin news, there are a couple of things going on. First of all, the new play came out yesterday, Blue Team returns. Of course, it is a repeat of the one that was brought back in the past. There isn’t anything added on to it, but for anyone who missed the play the first time, it is a chance to check it out again! And as you probably all know, The puffle party is coming the 20th; I had made a predictions about this about a year and a half ago, and I still can not believe that it is coming true!  If you want to read my other predictions, click here.  There is also a lot of construction going on all over the island for the party that is coming up. The newest Pin came out on Friday. It is a bag of puffle food and it is located in the mine shack.

(Click on images to make them larger)

The puffle party is supposed to have different places for the different puffles, I’m thinking that means that if the puffle has a wild attitude they might be in the pizza parlor or the stage.

Thanks,

Dublanous1 & Clonez (and connor)

Voice Of Penguins III

Hello everyone! This is Clonez, admin of skydays147 .wordpress .com. If you have not noticed, this website just got a new theme. There have been many comments on it; good ones and bad, and so I would like to put up a survey on which theme you like better. This one might just be temporary, so I want to know who likes it and who does not. Every opinion counts, please vote once and once only.

I felt like this holiday season I should include everyone elses opinion on the holiday party and not just mine, so I decided to start the third VOP. The major question that I would like to ask is, “What is your opinion on the holiday party?” People included in this holidaymontage have added a tag to their post on the Christmas party so that I could find them. I try to post everyone’s opinion I can find, which is a very tricky thing to do because most club penguin websites (about 95%) are cheats. So if you are not included, please do not feel bad. Comments have been grammatically corrected for your liking.

These people enjoyed the party:

The party rocks. *laughs* With the holiday books in the Coffee Shop and Book Room, flashing shades of winter blues on the dance floor, a fellow snowman at the ice rink and the honorary red Christmas light at the beacon, it’s obviously great. ~frosty1297.wordpress.com

The Christmas party has arrived! Oh my word, there is so much to talk about! The Club Penguin Team did a stupendous job on the party! ~bubblegum423.wordpress.com

Yay!  The Christmas Party is finally here!  Woohoo!  It’s my favorite party ever!  Guess what goes perfectly with it?  A Snow Day!  Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!  Or a good morning!  Or a good evening!  Merry Christmas to all, and to all [insert here]! *laughs* ~cpcrewcp.com

‘Tis the season to be jolly, and around Christmas, man does Club Penguin know how to be jolly… Club Penguin has showed they know how to have a Christmas party, and for good reasons ~dart211.wordpress.com

I arrived at Club Penguin very early this A.M. First a nice snowman took off his hat and said, “howdy Mrs. cord (red) how are you this fine am?” “I’m fine Mr. Snowman,” I said, “How about yourself?” The snowman put on a happy face and told me he was a bit frozen, but other than that he was doing good. I told him that I would love to stand there and talk to him all day but I was rather busy checking out the Christmas Party so I should be on my way… and then the adventure began. ~cordiallyakacaroline.wordpress.com

The rooms are marvelous looking, like the Dojo with all of the lights. They brought back so many memories of the 06 Christmas party, I really hope you all enjoy it! ~ghostdays.wordpress.com

The party looks amazing. The Club Penguin art department really out did themselves yet again. There are plenty of fun things and interactive decorations. […] There are many more beautiful decorations that you guys should check out for yourselves! Merry Christmas! ~insanepenguins.wordpress.com

Okay, […] I think you are overreacting. I do not really care much about items anymore. Even though I had the Santa Hat/Beard from 2006, how in the world can you have Christmas without the Santa Hats and Beards? Come on, where is your Christmas spirit? ~cyclone999.wordpress.com

And these people did not:

This year, the Christmas Party is not that merry. First of all, they brought back the 2-year-old Santa Beard and again brought back the Santa Hat. I am surprised they did not bring back the Antlers, but they did bring back the photos with Santa, of course. The party is not that good. The music is bad, it’s just some weird “Deck the Halls”. The ninja hideout (only accessible to ninjas) has a giant octopus with a Santa hat and a candy cane!! Plus, like the one back in 2006, it’s all snow covered. ~cprsp.wordpress.com

The Christmas Party came out! It’s the same thing as 2006’s though so it’s pretty boring if you’re rare like me. ~wexfief.wordpress.com

The Christmas party is up and running and I’m kind of disappointed . The town and plaza are pretty bad. It looked like a blizzard came through but, I must admit that a lot of the buildings look great. ~napoleon21blog.wordpress.com

They gave away another free item ! (Santa Beard). And the stupid… Santa Hat. Okay… Club Penguin has really started to p*ss me off. I’m not going to go anymore on Club Penguin. ~cyclone999.wordpress.com
