Crêpes!

Hello everyone and Happy New Year! I felt like sharing a recipe that I had prepared a couple of days ago for some delicious crêpes. I’ve been dieing to make them ever since I got something to top it with! My creation is shown above in the form of a dessert crêpe: decked out with chocolate syrup, a french vanilla ice cream filling, nutella, and powdered sugar! Of course, crêpes can be prepared in several ways, including a breakfast crêpe (with fruit  whipped cream, or pancake syrup), or a savory crêpe (with cheese, turkey, chicken and/or vegetables). Depending on what kind of mood one is in, a crêpe can be prepared to fit that style! Below is a basic recipe that I used to make the one above. It serves about four people, so make sure there are some hungry guests who would be delighted to try some as well!

Ingredients:
2 Large Eggs
2/3 a cup of milk
1/2 a cup of flour
1 tablespoon of butter
1 tablespoon of granulated sugar
1/4 a teaspoon of salt

1. To start off, melt the butter in a microwave. It ought to take only 30 seconds depending on the type of microwave.
2. Mix together all of the ingredients in a mixing bowl:  the eggs, milks, flour, butter,  sugar and salt. It could take a little while! The lumps should disappear after about a minute or so. Even if there are still some small lumps afterwards, it really shouldn’t affect the taste or texture in the end
3. Place a skillet of medium size on a stove top at medium heat. Apply some form of grease to the surface. It is best to use vegetable oil or a small amount of butter. Sprinkle a small amount of water on the pan to see if it is warm enough. If the water starts to dance (aka sizzle), then you are set!
4. Measure 1/4 a cup of the batter and pour onto the hot skillet. Tilt the pan so that the batter flows to clear the empty areas on the pan. Once the edges of the crêpe start to turn a little brown, it is ready to flip! For the first crêpe, this may take a while, but the time required on the skillet will decrease as the cook makes more. I’ve found that it is best to use a spatula to scrape the edges off the sides of the pan before flipping it so that it does not collapse into pieces. Let the crêpe cook on the opposite side (it shouldn’t take as long to cook).
5. Dress with toppings and eat immediately. These crêpes cool off very quickly!

Have some fun spicing up your crêpe! I had one other thing to say: the Mikeroni page is now going to be merged in with the homepage. All of my past entries will still be located on the page, but the ones for 2010 and later will come out in the form of posts. I’ve found this to be more efficient and visible to viewers, which is why I’ve decided to bring this into effect. Anyway, I hope everyone had a great New Years. I decided to spend mine at my friends house this year, which is a complete change of plan for me. Anyway, I came around six and we had snacks, played video games, and watched a movie. Most importantly, we tuned in to watch the ball drop in Times Square. I barely recognized it since my trip there during last spring break; there were so many people cheering and partying! Anyway, some wise guy decided to light some fireworks at midnight, so we all went outside in the below-freezing weather and started yelling and screaming. A while later, my friend showed me how to use my iPod, since I had just gotten one a couple of days ago (I know, I don’t really keep with the times *heh*). iTunes still bothers me greatly! I still am confused how to navigate its many tabs, pages, and clickables. I do hope I will eventually get used to it. In the mean time, I’ve been relying on my family to set it up for me. So far it hasn’t been great, since one wrong move in syncing it with my computer completely clears away all of the songs I had put on it. I slept over at my friends house that night, it was just so late to get a ride. Luckily there was a guest bedroom: it was sweltering hot during the night, but I managed. My friend told me that I finally fell asleep around 2:25am -exhausted. I don’t know how, but he managed to fall to sleep in a rocking chair! How uncomfortable! We woke up around eight o’clock. I’m not sure why, but waking up during a sleepover is always an awkward moment, since the early bird has to check over on their friend to see if he/she is up yet. Plus, it is nearly impossible to tell whether someone is fake sleeping, resting, actually sleeping, fake resting, or just lying in bed. The signals are so screwed up, that early bird just has to wait for that other guy to make a move. My panic about “what to ask/what to say” finally ended around ten: we decided to actually get up. I enjoyed a nice bowl of cereal and freshened up for the day.

Can you believe the school week is coming back in two days? It is rather frightening to think about, since I’ve been away from academic thoughts for so long. I hope I didn’t knock out any brain cells! It’s going to take a little while to readjust, but I believe in myself.

Childhood VII – Halloween

Halloween:
the epitome
of childhood.
An Unlimited
supply of candy.
Lugging that spooky

plastic pumpkin around. Seems as though there
is never enough space to store all that candy. A bottomless pit
of a bag is necessary to use to satisfy that unlimited sweet tooth. Returning
home, tired, late at night, weak, but most importantly, satisfied. Dumping the
pile on the living room table at seven o’clock at night. Theres no time to stop
for dinner, the trade must commence. “Will you trade me that Kit-Kat for  those
Snicker Bars?” “Can I have your Gummy Bears? I’ll give you my Three Musketeers.”
Mom plays that Charlie Brown Halloween Special as the long evening starts to unwind.
Halloween: the torture of adulthood. Waiting by the dressing room as junior tries on his
Pirate costume. Advertisements stressing the purchase of holiday decorations. Having
to come home early just to give out candy. Enjoying the special adult movie while
the kids are out. For only a few minutes, the sofa feels just so nice. Found the perfect
position on the cushion. And then it hits… DING-DONG!!! The dog starts barking
continuously as the house falls into chaos. Sprinting to the door as to not miss
another moment of the film. TRICK-OR-TREAT!!! Grabbing into the cauldron
of sugar-coated sugar-flavored sugar. Handing out the proper amount
to each little tike. Returning to the sofa, only to be forced
up repeatedly until the end of the long night
comes.

Gosh, I am going to miss those years of Halloween when I was little; to just go on a quest for candy with my buddies. It seems as though everyone was lacking the common sense that they could just eat the candy that Mommy bought at Walgreens instead of going out and getting some. Everyone went on a search to find the house that gave away those king-size chocolate bars, and I know that everyone thought in their head, “God D*mmit!” when that one family gave out caramel cubes as an excuse for candy. It was always hilarious how some people just left a giant candy bowl in front of their house with a little sign that said, “Please take two.” Eventually, someone would come around and snatch the entire bowl just for the heck of it, and that would be that. What I really hated were the candy corns that came on the shelves around October. I actually thought they were made of corn (yeah, I know), and so the idea of trying one disgusted me. It wasn’t until I was a lot older that I actually realized why so many people enjoyed them.

Probably the most important element of Halloween was how much I loved to wear costumes. I loved to dress up like my favorite superheroes when I was around five years old. I would even wear the costume when I went to sleep because I just loved being in character. I guess that is why I used to love acting when I was little, because I could have an out-of-body experience as another character. Every kid must have wanted to act. I don’t know where we all lost it: the sparks of creativity in artwork, singing, dancing, and acting. We used to love to get active and move around. That’s why they have playgrounds, so that little kids can release their energy. Anyway, that feeling just left one day without any notice. I know that feeling of creativity left a little when I was about ten.  What I really regret about Halloween is that I rarely chose a costume to wear after I lost that feeling inside. I mean, Halloween is just one day, so my parents always thought that I would have to wear the same costume next year. I think I know what it is; we are all falling to our peers, causing us to lose out costume-wearing spirit.

Decorations also played a huge part of what made Halloween so special. For our family, every year we would decorate by buying those fake spider webs that can be stretched over a bush or tree to make it look haunted. Even though it was always a huge mess to clean up afterward, it was our family tradition. My mom would always have us make decorations for the house using orange and black paper. My sister and I would cut it into different patterns to create paper lanterns and shades for the windows. Unfortunately, the paper lanterns would always deform and just fall off the string and the shades would always collapse days before Halloween. In the end, my dad would save the day and go out to buy last minute decorations for our house. I’ve always wanted to have a house that was extravagantly decorated in ornaments. I mean, to a level in which you can not even see the lawn because there are so many inflatables and what-not on the grass. We would actually spend time driving through neighborhoods during the night and hunt for houses with insane decorations.

Connor: I remember Halloween when I was a tot. I remember going to Spirit  (a costume store) with my mom and sister and picking out wacky costumes. When I was around three or four, I was Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh. I loved that costume so so so much that I wore it for two Halloweens in a row! I think I liked it so much because it looked like a dog costume (sort of) and everyone knows how much four year olds love dogs! More recently, however, my costumes have deviated from Disney cartoon characters. Last Halloween was uncomfortable for me, unfortunately. Even though I was a week from turning fourteen, I felt as though my trick or treating days were coming to a close. I wore an afro wig last year, by the way. I clearly remember one year, when I was about ten, when my sister, Mia, my parents, and I were trick or treating. We walked upon this vastly decorated house with just decorations galore. It was impossible to see the stucco of the house behind all the spiderwebs and fog machines. I wanted candy badly though, so I walked up to the front door where a cauldron of candy laid next to a skeleton or something in a black cloak. My sister then came to grab candy, after seeing that it was safe. She was about seven at the time. Anyway, as she put her hand in the cauldron; that skeleton that I thought was a prop… was actually a person. The man in the costume screamed so loudly that my sister dropped her candy and pumpkin bucket. It took my parents a good twenty minutes to calm Mia back down. I was just standing there all like wow, what just happened? That night was probably the spookiest Halloween experience I ever had. Surely, Mia still remembers it vividly.

Halloween is full of just so many memories of fun, food and fright that should not be put aside just because of mere age. It really doesn’t matter how old you are, there is some way to get in the holiday spirit. Please, don’t be that shut-in sitting at home thinking, “those pesky kids…” Instead, get out and greet kids in costume at the doorstep. It will save your sanity and will save yourself from constant interruptions. Most importantly, let your inner child out! Let that energy inside come out in praise of this youthful day!

Club Penguin this week

Hello, this is Dublanous1, technical admin. for skydays147.com

Great news! There are white puffles availible in the pet shop!

https://i1.wp.com/community.clubpenguin.com/blog/2009/03/02/white_puffle.jpg

Heres what Clonez had to say about it:

“My first thought was that this puffle was going to be one that represented the Sensei in Club Penguin. They both are of a pretty light color and I can see why they would relate to each other. One reason why I would choose the ninjas is because this puffle has been hiding in the mountain range and like ninjas, this puffle is pretty mysterious. Not because it hasn’t been recognized until now, but because it blends in with the snow. It can go wherever it wants to on the island and still remain in hiding. Thus, this puffle must have special ninja abilities, like the Sensei. This would make sense because Rockhopper has his own puffle, the red one, and so why wouldn’t the Sensei have one?

I then thought that this puffle would be one of the snow, because that is where it is found the most. It would spend more time in the snow than any other puffle and its special ability would be making snow castles or something like snow forts. If it is snow forts, this puffle would like to spend time having snowball fights with other puffles. It would roll up a ball of snow, plop it on its head, and jump to throw it at something or someone. This could really explain it’s white color because it would help when it is in a snowball fight in order to hide from an opponent. Whatever it is, lets just hope we find out soon!”

picture-6

The puffle is great! When you have it play it blows a piece of ice and it skates on it. When you dance with it, it makes it snow ontop of it and hops around.

One thing I found strange was that the color of the white puffle is yellow, maybe they think no one will notice but it is an obvious mistake, take a look:

(yes, the puffles are named what color they are supposed to be)

picture-5

picture-4

Wierd, right? I think cp will change that in the future, they probably just used it really quick until they made it white.

Anyway, there is a sneak peak of an award ceremony “penguin play awards” from the cp blog, it will be a members only party, from march 20 to april 9.

Here is a peak:

picture-2

Other than that, there will be no April fools celebration this year but the Clothing Catalog is out as well as the puffles and it is Themed for St. Patricks day, and there will be ties and suits to get ready for the “awards”

That’s All for now,

Moment We’ve Waited For

Hello everyone! This is Clonez, administrator of skydays147.com. I just want to start off by saying that this is my 147th post on this website! It is just such an honor on my part and my website 🙂

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Ever since the first sighting of the puffles back in 2005, Club Penguin has always meant to put in a Puffle Party in order to celebrate them. Unfortunately, that idea was probably kept in the back of their database for quite some time now, and it isn’t until 2009: less than four years later, that they finally got the idea to make one. People have been commenting in the past a frequent number of times on the Club Penguin blog to tell them that they should make one. I had even made a prediction about this one happening in a post I made less than 2 years ago.
ball-pit_2I thought that it was a little strange and out of the ordinary to have one in February 2009, because there hasn’t been much of an event to celebrate. For example, there is not a new color out to follow the release of the yellow one and everyone was expecting some kind of release of a new special item. Anyway, I just thought that this party is so much more unique than the past few, even if some people thought it was pretty small. The feature highlighted at the left is the ball pit, it is located in the forest.  This is probably one of my favorite rooms, it is a great hiding place. All of the little plastic balls in the tub are colored to be just like all of the different colors of the puffles. It is like swimming in a  giant pool of them. I am not sure why they added the white plastic balls in the tub. You know, recently Club Penguin has given a lot of hints about the white puffles. It seems like it could be a possibility that they might actually come out before the orange ones that I had predicted. I heard recently that there have been spottings of the white puffle in the Dojo. There is one that comes out every 30 minutes in the bushes. I guess Club Penguin is trying to make it similar to how the yellow puffle only came out of the bushes at a certain time like during the Halloween party. Only time can tell us what the future holds. For now we will have to wait for that answer.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

If you find yourself waddling over towards the underground area, I definitely suggest that you check out the room where the pool used to be. It has been transformed into a giant skating rink and the black puffles dominate the room. Even though this is the only puffle that does not have an expression on it’s face, Club Penguin really spent a long time putting expression into this room. fireThey have never dared to put in such an urban style into any of the parties in the past. I definitely think this is the best room at the party to see. It is very modern and there is a graffiti effect on the wall (except Club Penguin uses chalk instead because spray paint is a bad influence on younger children). If you look closely, you may find a surprise button on the wall to press that will light up all four black puffles in the corners of the room to turn into a spectacular festival of fire. The picture at the right is located on the floor of the room; I just thought it looked amazing with the black puffles eyes blazing with fire. This room finally brought out the expression in this puffle that has been hidden for years and that mysterious attitude of this puffle is revealed on the walls and floor.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

At this party, probably everyone has at least one puffle that they can relate to. This puffle likes similar things, has a similar attitude. The puffle that I feel relates to me the most is yellow puffle, which is why I thought that the lighthouse was pretty well decorated. paintingThe lighthouse features the yellow puffle through a variety of different arts, like acting (along with directing), painting, and sculpting. It was fun to watch the puffle act on stage, make sculptures of penguins, and most importantly, paint individual pictures of each penguin. The only problem with the painting is that it doesn’t have any of the clothing on you, which is understandable because it is just like the sledding game: they cant bring in every single piece of clothing because of the number of different clothing combination’s. Anyway, I thought that the picture was pretty cute even without the clothing, because real penguins don’t even wear clothing. The puffle was pretty happy with his creation. I took a picture of his/ her masterpiece, which is located at the left.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

As told in the fortune cookie that Sensei left in this weeks newspaper, it says “Keep and eye out for pirates”. Just in time for Rockhopper’s visit; the cove is updated to feature Rockhopper and his red puffle, Yarr.ship_5 The room is set up so that it is pirate oriented with a pirate ship replacing the surf hut. Although I was unsure why Club Penguin named it the “HMS Puffle”, connora had stated to me that “HMS” is added on to the beginning of ship names. According in Wikipedia, it is a ship prefix used for ships of the navy and it means “Her Majesty’s Ship”. I was still unsure why that was added on because a pirate ship isn’t part of any navy. Anyway, I still think that the room is decorated nicely. There is a free item located in the back; even though it is a repeat, it did kind of fit the theme of being pirate and puffle related. Although I do wish that Club Penguin would be more creative with their free items. A lot of people were hoping for an item for a puffle to wear like a hat on its head.

25

Final Rating: Although there are not that many rooms decorated, the ones that were added on to were very creative and unique. Like I said, this party is the one that we have all been waiting for. You may feel that the free items were not that good, but like I always say, try and look past the surface of those free items and enjoy the party for what it is. I still do feel that a lot of the most important rooms on the island were not decorated and that is why the rating was lowered.

Half An Effort Only Counts For Half A Party

What is Club Penguin thinking at this moment? Right now I have no choice but to look forward to the “Festival of Snow” party in February, because the fiesta is just plain dreadful. If Club Penguin tried at all, they would have decorated some more of the rooms that are normally decorated. If Club Penguin is going to continue to make things with half an effort, they won’t be around much longer. What should be positive reviews are going to go down and turnout to be like this one. I can’t put half an effort in to my blog, and try to put more of an effort into a different post. I have to give every post 100%, or else my views will go down, something I learned when I didn’t post.

Club Penguin has to put 100% into every party they make. I’m not saying they should go and make every party like the Mid-evil party, but with a bit of honor. You can’t win a critic over with a sloppy party like the made this one, nor can you win more fans of Club Penguin. If Club Penguin is owned by Disney, the should have people hired to make some more of the rooms that way we all aren’t left with a boring party to be going on for 3 days. If Club Penguin wants to lose money, they can continue to give 60% and have dreadful free items.

One of the reasons I’m so concerned of this is because Club Penguin is wanting more and more members, with the economy bad. Club Penguin is seeming more desperate for money then ever. And right now it’s hard to tell, are they aiming at back up money, or are they trying to get money. Is it possible that Club Penguin is making a party with half an effort because of shortage on money? And If Club Penguin needs money, why don’t they borrow some from Disney?

With Club Penguin not giving an effort in a bad economy, and being desperate for members, aren’t good signs. At the least, Club Penguin should come though strong in the “Festival of Snow”. If they mess up the “Festival of Snow”, that’s when we should be worried, because the “Winter Fiesta” wasn’t a good party to start with. It was to long, and it was the same exact thing as last year. Club Penguin had a whole year to add some more decorations to some more rooms, yet they did nothing. I hope to see more of an effort out of Club Penguin in the future.

Rate It: 4/10

That’s All For Now! So Until Then, Keep Waddlin’ Back!

Holiday Party

holiday_party_1Hello everyone! This is Clonez, admin of skydays147 .wordpress .com. This morning I got my first snow day of winter: in real life and in Club Penguin. The Christmas Holiday Party started today. This was actually the first party that I have ever waited up for. In my opinion, it is a very nice one. Whatever holiday you are celebrating, I wish you a Merry Christmas, a Happy Hanukkah, and a Joyous Kwanzaa. There is something about this party that gives it such a zing, I am just not sure exactly what it was. I think it might be that warming feeling you get inside when you sit with friends around that fireplace in the coffee shop. It is set up so nicely; grab a bunch of friends and roast marshmallows over that fire because the cold build-up of snow is just a few feet away. I feel more invited at this party than I did at last years. In the 2007 party, I felt like I was some outcast because the decorations were made strictly for Christmas. I didn’t log on as much during the party because it made me upset. The week before I had sent holiday_party_2an email to Club Penguin asking for a menorah at the party and they had given me a very rude answer that it would cause a “conflict” if they had added one. It was like I could not follow anything what was going on; in a way, powerless. I feel at this one it is a lot more tolerant of other religions, and that is a really sweet thing for Club Penguin to do. It is just so friendly, and the large mounds of snow are something that everyone can enjoy, not just a select number of people. Although the free items at this party were ones that were brought back, it doesn’t totally ruin the party. You just have to appreciate the setting around you. I know I felt a little upset when only the Santa hat and beard came. But then again, it is a holiday party, and Club Penguin is letting everyone celebrate the tradition of Christmas by bringing them back. You never know, they may add another free item to the party like they did last year with the Christmas Scarf.  One of the rooms I love is the outside of the Dojo. Did you see the number of lights that were added on to it? It is suchholiday_party_3 extreme festivity that I had to comment on it. They all sparkle and shine when you enter the room. There is something about lights that really “lights up” the holiday season. I remember last year during the holiday time, my family would drive around the neighborhood and look at all of the different color lights that the houses put on. Some of them could be seen from a mile away; it was so bright. Okay, there is one other room that has to be mentioned: the cove. It is set up to be a paradise scene with palm trees and a sunset. Lets face it: the media describes the holidays as being “snowy,” which is not necessarily true. The point that this room is trying to make is that Christmas (or other winter holidays) can be celebrated anywhere around the globe and they are just as important as the ones in cold temperatures. The second reason they chose this was because of the southern hemisphere: it is summer there while it is winter here. So people who log on to Club Penguin in holiday_party_41Australia or possibly South Africa can have part of their warm weather during the party. I have to say, it is one of the most festive rooms at the party; it is very nice. I think they added the stage from the Music Party. I’m not too sure because it is a little different. The last room I would like to mention is the dance lounge, which has been transformed into a “Santas Factory” with a large conveyor belt in which toys are made. This is totally new for this party, and it is a pretty good idea that Club Penguin has come up with. The toy parts come down the chute and travel to a machine where they are made and boxed into nicely wrapped presents.  On the wall there is a picture of “Elf of the Month.” I laughed at that when I first saw it. How can you tell who that is? All of them look the same. I like how Club Penguin came up with the idea for the two arcade games in the room. They turned it into a video game system: very clever. I have to admit that I would have never thought of  them doing that. coins-for-changeCoins For Change is a huge part of what makes this Holiday Party so great. Not only during Christmas, but for other winter holidays too, donations are a huge part of the celebration. It is nice to see that Club Penguin is showing kids how important it is to donate. Instead of money, they donate coins of course. Not to ruin the parade, it isn’t really you who is donating money. It is the Club Penguin staff who is donating, and they are giving it to the different causes that you choose. I’m guessing when you donate 50, it is one vote; 250 is two votes; 500 is three votes. I have to say it is a pretty confusing method that they have set up. I’ve only donated a couple of times and I don’t even know if that influences the decision or not. Coins for Change is located is so many more rooms than last year, possibly because they want more people to give coins.

treasure-hunt

I felt like I needed to give some advice on the Treasure hunt game, because I haven’t done that in such a long time. The number one rule that I have that will help you earn more coins is to never dig in the far top/ bottom rows (or left/ right columns if you are second player). The reason is because it is harder to find the candy canes which are more points than the peppermints. When you go in the spot next to it, you can cover more ground and find the candy cane easier. Only go on the edges when you find that part of the candy cane is in that area. My second advice is to control the spaces in between your diggings. Do not leave a gap of two spots, because a candy cane could be in that area and you could miss it easily.  Finally, there is a rare in the game, and it is 2 by 2; it is a green ornament which is worth 100 points/coins. Make sure you don’t miss it. You can find it in about 1 in 10 games.

Overall Party Rating: ***

To finish up, I would like to wish everyone a great time during this two week winter break. Make it last, make it safe, and most importantly,  make it fun!
